The Transparency of Hope
-Dr. Angela Illuzzi-Russo
April 3, 2009
Go Angie Harmon for speaking your mind about the Obama administration and how you can disagree with him, just like we can disagree with any other president, and it has nothing to do with race or racism, and pointing out that we live in the US, which means freedom of speech still exists, for now. With Pelosi and Waxman discussing the rebirth of the Fairness Doctrine, and the White House hell bent on discrediting Rush (a task which proves harder than they'd like), who knows what's in store for those who do not concede to the liberal movement.
Some mind boggling revelations in the news recently....
· We're no longer calling the terrorists 'enemy combatants', hmm maybe we should release them all from Gitmo and place them in foreclosed homes in Nancy Pelosi's neighborhood...that would be gracious of us...
· Sen. Hillary Clinton announces that we will no longer use the term 'global war on terror'...I think that's just the change of vernacular we need. We could show the 'terrorists', I mean 'angry, mostly Middle-Eastern people whose only mission in life is to destroy our freedom and kill us', that the world at large is not united against their efforts. I think that will help them sleep better at night, and that's what's most important, right?
· North Korea flexing some muscles attempting to launch a missile which has the US Defense Secretary admitting we are not prepared to do anything about it. Kudos to the Obama administration who has been implying that it wants to scale back Bush's efforts to maintain a strong missile defense system. And by the way, Russia, we won't strengthen the missile defense system in Poland anymore, we trust you! See how much cooler we are than the last administration??? The world is full of sunshine and rainbows!!!
· Speaking of the Obama Administration...what a classy group of cabinet appointees...was there a single pick without some kind of scandal or moral conflict? Could you imagine if a Republican President picked a bunch of tax cheats for these high profile positions? And Obama's judgment is not even being questioned by the mainstream media. He's just that perfect.
· Thank you to the congressmen and senators of our great nation, for working so hard to pass this 'Emergency Stimulus Bill' without even reading it. I think in any other professional field incompetence like this would be grounds for firing, but luckily they control the laws on term limits, so they sure dodged that landmine!
· A generous Chris Dodd added language which provided loopholes for AIG execs to get their bonuses (paid for by your hard earned money), for running their companies into the ground. And by the way, how much in contributions from AIG execs and their spouses did Sen. Dodd receive? It is estimated over $200,000...
Transparency, Mr. President...sure... it is very CLEAR to me what's going on here...
The United Auto Workers heard saying that they would be willing to make concessions, but after the companies get back on their feet, they want to be compensated...what a way to show team effort! Hate to tell you boys, they may not get back on their feet, and maybe you're part of the problem. The greed of the union contracts and inefficient labor is partly responsible for the failure in Detroit. Average labor cost of a UAW employee is about $72/hr, average labor cost of a Toyota, Nissan, and Honda employee in the US is $48/hr. You do the math. This union, as unions often do, has negotiated to benefit themselves and not the interest of the American public...so why should we care now? Why should we continue to finance their inflated retirement and benefits packages? Especially if they’re so willing to take back all they've given up once the auto companies right themselves.
Wow, so much going on! I genuinely would like to support our new President, and I hope that we emerge stronger than ever, but something tells me that the policies I have been hearing about, and the corruption that still exists, trumps my 'HOPE' in the 'CHANGE' that he was going to bring."

My grandfather came to this country after the Second World War. Granted, he was here originally as a P.O.W. He was captured by the British in North Africa and after spending some time in England he was sent to America. He probably saw more of this country than I ever will and he fell in love. (He fell in love my grandmother too but that’s an entirely different story). When he arrived in this country after the War, he immediately wanted to assimilate. He became a naturalized citizen as soon as it was possible. He did his best to speak English and carried around his Italian-English dictionary everywhere he went. He wanted to speak English as much as possible so he could master the language. My memories of my grandfather are of him speaking English. Only when he got really excited did he start to speak Italian. I “blame” his assimilation on me not being able to speak Italian! He also got a job. As a matter of fact, he always had a job and prided himself on providing for his family. When times were hard, he did whatever job he could to provide for his family. No government assistance for Grandpa Nocelli.
How does the story of my grandfather compare to those you hear today? Today, people come to this country looking to bring their old life with them and get some government assistance. They are looking for a better life but on your dime. Assimilation doesn’t occur anymore. If you call someone on not wanting to assimilate, you are labeled a racist or a cold-hearted Conservative. (I don’t mind the latter). People come here looking for what the government can do for them. At the risk of quoting a Democrat and man I do not respect, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.” If you look at JFK in today’s light, he may very well have been a moderate Republican but nothing can erase the mess he created with the Bay of Pigs. Another Liberal mess that we are still feeling decades later.
Our current administration, as most left wingers have in the past, would like nothing more than to have our government provide everything for its citizens and for its citizens to depend solely on the government. This country used to be the country paved with opportunity; now it’s the country that is looking for government assistance. The Declaration of Independence speaks about our inalienable rights - “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”. The last time I read it, I don’t recall anything about healthcare for all or that it’s a God given right. Yes, I said the “G” word. This country is slowly moving in the direction of our Socialist “friends” in Canada and Europe. This administration would much rather provide cradle to the grave benefits to its citizens than what our Founding Fathers originally envisioned for this nation of free, capitalist people. I’ll quote Rush Limbaugh because I feel it’s an important statement, “Socialism has failed EVERY time it is tried.” I challenge you to show me a place where it has worked.
As this country slowly goes down the road towards Socialism, I can only think about the damage that will be done to this great nation; damage that cannot be undone. Thirty years later, we are still feeling the effects of the Carter Administration. Sixty plus years later, we are still feeling the effects of F.D.R. and his New Deal. Once new programs are introduced into government, just try to get rid of them. Our new stimulus plan that “The Messiah” will sign today will add countless government assistance programs that we will not be able to free ourselves from. John McCain calls it “generational theft” and I couldn’t agree more.
This is a country that used to have streets paved with opportunity. Unfortunately, its citizens decided to vote in a Socialist as their President and we are slowly seeing opportunity replaced with government assistance. President Obama stated that he thinks government is the only thing that can save our nation now but I beg to differ. To quote the greatest President of our time, “…government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.” People have become lazy and expect their government to provide things that our parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents prided themselves on achieving. The future seems bleak for this great experiment in Capitalism when we have a Socialist in office but I have faith in my fellow citizens. 2010 is right around the corner and I’m hoping they will see the light. Just remember, this country voted in a Congress that just voted on a 1,000+ page stimulus bill without reading it. So whose interests do you think they have in mind, yours or theirs?

In regards to pork in the stimulus..."the American people really don't care." Let me ask you, which American people really don't care? The far left socialist Americans; those Americans seem to be the only ones you represent.
Here's a quote you should remember..."Government is not the solution to our problem; government is our problem." ...and you Mr. Senator, just added to that problem by voting to expand our government.
I'm only 29 so what I know about the Carter administration is what I've read and researched but it seems to me that this administration will be much worse and over 20 years later we are still feeling the effects or Carter's mistakes. How long will we feel the effects of Obama's "Stimulus" Bill?
If only the people elected would actually listen to their constituents instead of pursuing their own agenda. We are the people who voted you into office. We are the people who pay your salary. WE are the people who will vote you out.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T Find Out What it Means to Me...
-Dr. Angela Illuzzi-Russo
January 16, 2009
It's amazing to me how people, now, can be outraged, disappointed, and surprised by Barack Obama's decision to have Rev. Rick Warren at his inauguration ceremony. Were you all sleeping over the past election year???? This is the same man who chose to sit in Rev. Wright's church and denied ever hearing his racist and hate-filled diatribes. I think it's a little too late to start questioning his judgement. The liberals have finally got what they deserved, a president-elect whose judgement they can't trust or predict. He was just so cool to all of you, no one bothered to find out who Barack Obama really is.
It is even more sad to me that the media outrage hasn't been focused on a shoe-throwing maniac, who got off not only one, but two attempts of violence against our Commander in Chief. You may not agree with George W. Bush, or his foreign policy, but he is still the leader of the greatest nation that this world has EVER come to know, and these people, who would otherwise be being dragged through gravel pits by their oppressive, fundamentalist, tyrranist leaders should only hope to taste the freedom that he, and our brave men and women in uniform, ensure we enjoy everyday. It's called a little RESPECT.

Not another Che movie
Hollywood’s love affair with Communist thugs…
-Michele Nocelli
December 22, 2008
Hollywood has had a love affair with Communism and dictators alike for decades. From Hanoi Jane to Baghdad Sean, their love for dictatorships shows no end. But Hollywood’s love for Cuba is most fascinating. Steven Spielberg and Oilver Stone fall all over themselves when they speak of this “wise, generous man”. You see, Hollywood believes the Fidel is this great political mind who gives excellent health care and education to his people and they idolize Che as though he were the second coming of Christ. So why is it that Cubans are literally risking their lives to get out?
I’m not surprised when there is yet another movie depicting Che as the “determined freedom fighter” who came to Cuba to help Castro “free” the people from Fulgencio Batista’s dictatorship. Now, that all sounds nice, but you can’t rewrite history and that is not what happened. Soderbergh leaves out the part where Castro and Che stripped the Cuban people of their land, money, pride, and freedom.
If you want to see a true depiction of what happened during that time, watch Andy Garcia’s “The Lost City”. He depicts what really happened during the revolution. He shows you the true face of a Communist thug – the men Hollywood just can’t stop fawning over.

Pleasure or Palin
-Dr. Angela Illuzzi-Russo
November 25, 2008
Being a woman of a strong-minded nature, it occurred to me the other day that perhaps all is not equal between us and our male counterparts. I think although there was a slight rise in the energy of the Republican Party after the announcement of Sarah Palin as John McCain's running mate, the novelty wore thin when attention was put on her looks, her wardrobe, and her make-up, instead of her gubernatorial or mayoral accomplishments. This concept is even more evident in Barack Obama's rise to power and victory over Hillary Clinton, who was considered the Democratic Party's shoo-in nominee.
How was it that no one wondered how much Joe Biden's suits cost, or how much the DNC paid for Barack Obama's ties? No, Sarah Palin was doomed from the start. Not being a veteran Washington, DC politician, she fared well against Joe Biden in her debate, but no one from the media was interested in her success, they were only there to report and exploit typical female stereotyping. Such as her 'expensive suits', 'tantrums', and since she is considered attractive, she couldn't possibly be competent. How could she be a mother and Vice President? I guess it's only men who can manage important positions of power and parenting. Maybe it doesn't take a village after all.
Why aren't all my fellow females outraged at the media's handling of this woman, and the angle in which they played her? I guess the modern day feminist is too liberal to accept the fact that as far as the Executive Branch is concerned, we still have a long way to go. Didn't hear them fighting for Sarah Palin, maybe she doesn't fit their agenda. Either way, we have seen that the concept of a 'minority' in this country may not be in one's race, but rather in one's gender, and that the glass ceiling is still a reality that women of accomplishment must endure. I am left to wonder if we will ever have the pleasure of hearing 'Madam President'?
